Camac is sponsoring Corrina Hewat‘s appearance at the Somerset Harp Festival, which takes place in Parsippany NJ between July 18 – 21, 2019. Our US distributors, the Virginia Harp Center, will also be in situ at the exhibition throughout the weekend.
Corrina’s work is at the heart of the dynamic new folk scene in Scotland, fusing traditional music with jazz, pop and other contemporary in highly creative ways. Following studies with Maire Ni Chathasaigh in Jazz & Contemporary Music (Leeds), Corrina has been widely-recognised for her work with bands Bachué (with pianist David Milligan), Shine (with Mary Macmaster & Alyth McCormack), and The Unusual Suspects, also with David Milligan. She has been commissioned to write several large-scale works for instrumental and choral ensembles, has directed a wide variety of shows, and recorded over 30 albums in the last twelve years. She is a core tutor on the Traditional Music Degree courses at Newcastle University and the RSAMD in Glasgow, and her sell-out workshops and courses on harmony singing, arranging and vocal techniques have proved to be a source of inspiration for countless singers and musicians.
