Another lovely disc, available from Sophie @ [email protected], is ‘Star of Night’, by Janelle Nadeau. Critically praised for her “outstanding, extending innovative renditions of popular Christmas tunes” (including U2’s ‘Peace on Earth’), and “bad ass harp skills”, Janelle has brought a breath of fresh air to Christmas programmes, together with Stephen Fisk on guitar and vocals, and Ian Mackie on percussion.

A great proof – if you need any – that the festive season really doesn’t always have to mean the Ceremony of Carols and the Samuel-Rousseau Variations! Janelle has also recently been touring another creative programme: “A Prairie Christmas”, with Kim Robertson (lever harp) and Joaquin Ayala (nyckleharpa, symphonie and harmonium).
