Pacific Harps Festival 2022
Latest
October 3, 2022
Pacific Harps, our partners in California, are holding a fantastic festival in early November! Come to sunny Pasadena for a star-studded line-up of guest artists, concerts and workshops across all musical styles, the chance to get your harps regulated, and to try out some of the latest Camac harps. Tickets can be booked online here.
On Friday, November 4, you can register from 2PM and explore the harp exhibition. At 4PM, Liza Jensen will give one of her famous harp maintenance workshops. She’ll remind us what’s important, debunk myths and legends, and show you how to carry out simple harp care yourself. If you haven’t been to one of Liza’s workshops before, we warmly recommend it; if you have, come anyway, and refresh your memory!
At 6:30PM we’ll welcome a performance by the festival’s Youth Harp Ensemble. This will be followed by a classical recital with our first guest star of the weekend: Claudia Lucia Lamanna, winner of the 21st International Harp Contest in Israel.
On the morning of Saturday, November 5, Claudia will give a masterclass. If you’re interested in taking part, please contact Pacific Harps, or email us on [email protected] and we’ll put you in touch. The afternoon and evening will be all about Latin, Jazz and modern trad: a jazz workshop with Rossitza Milevska, a Celtic concert with Kim Robertson, a Latin set from Maestro Alfredo Rolando Ortiz, and a jazz concert with Motoshi Kosako, Rossitza Milevska and Cédric Le Donne.
On Sunday, November 6, you can work with Kim and Alfredo in morning classes, and also with Pia Salvia. Pia will give a pop harp workshop, then a concert with Noam Israeli. Pia and Noam will be opening for the festival’s final event: yes, Edmar Castañeda is also coming to California.
Jakez and Helen cannot wait to join the Pasadena team to welcome you to these busy, convivial and inspiring three days. We look forward to seeing you there!
