July 4, 2019
Congratulations to the winners of the Camac Prize Taiwan: the results are now out on the competition site!
Meng-Lu Chiu, our partner in Taiwan, reports: “In 2016, this competition already attracted fifty participants; this year, eighty-seven took part. Harpists came from all over the world, and particularly of course from Taiwan, mainland China and Hong Kong.
There are five competition divisions in total, and we give distinction prizes for contestants who receive a score of eighty or higher in the three non-advanced divisions. This is to encourage younger candidates in their harp studies, on their path to the senior competitions.”
First Prize glory was shared between Taiwan and Hong Kong. From Hong Kong, Tsz Shun Chan and Yin Chun Ho won the advanced pedal and advanced lever divisions respectively. From Taiwan, Yu Chen Li won the open pedal; Cleophee Seguin won youth pedal, and Serene, Shiu-Ning Tu won in junior lever.

The competition’s numerous and talented young harpists could also benefit from the surrounding Taiwan Harp Festival, full of innovative concerts, multidisciplinary explorations – and guest appearances from two stars of the concert harp, Isabelle Moretti and Emmanuel Ceysson. At the closing recital, given by Isabelle Moretti, the audience were surprised and delighted when Emmanuel joined her on-stage for the second of three encores!
