March 12, 2025
Whether you’re a seasoned harpist, an aspiring player, or simply a passionate admirer of the harp, the 2nd Camac Harp Days promises to be an unforgettable experience. Join us for a weekend filled with inspiration, connection, and a lot of harp music!
The event will take place at the stunning Farum Kulturhus in Denmark. This year, attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage in a variety of activities designed to inspire and educate harp enthusiasts of all levels.
Lever harpists can look forward to a fascinating workshop led by the immensely talented Nolwenn Arzel. As a leading exponent of the Breton revival, Nolwenn blends the rich heritage of Celtic traditions with a fresh, modern twist in her performances. This workshop will not only enhance your skills but also tap into the storytelling essence fundamental to Celtic music, allowing you to connect deeply with the genre.
For pedal harpists, a masterclass with the remarkable Nabila Chajai awaits. With a distinguished orchestral career and a passion for integrating diverse musical influences, Nabila’s innovative approach to the harp opens new avenues for creativity and personal expression. Participants will have the chance to expand their skills and discover new techniques with this unique harpist, who boasts such a rich cultural understanding of music.
We sat down with Lovisa Wennesz, the festival’s artistic director, to discuss what attendees can expect from this remarkable event.
“This Harp Festival is, for me, a wonderful opportunity to share my passion for harps and music with students, parents, and colleagues and to do so in such a fine setting as Farum Kulturhus provides. Denmark has a very small harp community, so any event like this helps strengthen the sense of community and awareness of the beautiful instrument,” Lovisa shared.
She goes on to highlight, “Participants at the festival can join as either spectators or active participants. There will be a masterclass and concert with Nabila Chajai, and Danish harp students will also perform at concerts, there will be an opportunity to have harps serviced, as it is extremely rare for professional harp technicians to come to the country. Finally, there will be a fantastic exhibition of brand new harps from Camac’s range. Additionally, professional harpists will have the chance to meet, network, and strengthen their collegial bonds in a supportive environment.”
In a world where musical community is more vital than ever, the Camac Harp Days can bridge the gaps, bringing together individuals from different walks of harp-playing life.
When asked if these events contribute to the harp culture in Scandinavia, Lovisa confirmed enthusiastically, “Very much so. As mentioned, there is quite a small professional harp community in the Nordic countries. So, any event of this kind helps strengthen the work we harpists put in and fosters greater appreciation for our craft.”
